Croydon Fostering Week returns from 9-15 March, shining a spotlight on the life‑changing difference foster carers make and raising awareness of the children and young people who need safe, loving homes.
Throughout the week, the Council’s fostering team will be out across the borough and online, offering advice, answering questions, and sharing information with anyone interested in becoming a foster carer.
Croydon has one of the largest populations of young people in any London borough, and Executive Mayor Jason Perry is committed to supporting them and giving them every opportunity to flourish. Foster carers provide an essential service, and the Council recently recognised this by improving fees and benefits – meaning Croydon is leading the way as a supportive local authority for foster carers in England.
Residents are encouraged to drop in to a session, have a conversation, and find out how fostering could work for them. Foster carers play a vital role in providing stability, care, and support for children and young people, helping them thrive within their local community.
Croydon Fostering Week is an opportunity to celebrate existing foster carers whilst inviting others to learn more about how they can make a real difference.
Nicci, an experienced foster carer for Croydon, said: “As a Foster Carer I am doing a job that I love and thanks to Croydon Council we are being recognised and rewarded. Investing in foster carers is the highest form of investing in the future of our children.”
“Foster carers come from all walks of life. You don’t need special powers to change a child’s life – just kindness, commitment and a willingness to open your heart and home. If fostering is something you’ve ever considered, I encourage you to meet our team during Croydon Fostering Week and discover how you could make a real difference for a young person in our borough.”
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon
