An area in Croydon West constituency will be awarded £20m in the latest allocation of funding from the Government’s Pride in Place programme. The funding will be used for projects to revitalise high streets, improve public spaces, and strengthen community involvement.
The grant covers parts of West Thornton, Selhurst, Broad Green, Bensham Manor and Selhurst. Residents living in that area will get to decide and plan how the money should be spent.
The Government allocated the funding using a formula that measures deprivation to identify communities most in need of support.
The Croydon West programme will be led by a Neighbourhood Board, bringing together residents, businesses, community groups, Ward Councillors and the local MP. The Council will soon update local residents on the process for recruiting an independent chair and board members.
The plans developed by the Croydon West Board will need to be submitted to the Government in February 2027.

“This is a great opportunity for Croydon West and builds on the real progress we have already made in restoring pride in our borough – with improvements to our district centres, investment in our high streets, parks and green spaces, and blitz cleans already rolled out to make our neighbourhoods cleaner and safer.
“This project will be led by local people and we look forward to working with them as the plans are developed.”
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon
The new funding follows the announcement of £20m for New Addington North for a 10-year Pride in Place programme. Julia Weller was appointed as independent Chair of the New Addington North Neighbourhood Board earlier this month. Recruitment to the New Addington Board is now underway, with the closing date for applications on 13 April. Find out more, including how to apply on the Council website.
A further £1.5m has been received from the Pride in Place Impact Fund, which will help 15 communities across the borough over the coming year. These include a range of improvements to community hub buildings, high streets, playgrounds and parks.
